As contractors dust off their mowers in preparation for the busy months ahead, industry event planners are gearing up for an “eventful” season as well. Amid the springtime upswing in business, landscape professionals’ calendars may include industry-related events like those slated this month.
May’s event lineup includes lighting conventions, an outdoor field day and a green rooftops conference.
Now in its 14th year, this event is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference. More than 500 leading-edge domestic and international companies are expected to exhibit – and more than 19,000 architectural, engineering, design and end-user professionals are expected to attend. Held in the Javits Convention Center, this year’s LIGHTFAIR trade show and conference will feature two full days of training by industry experts. Seminars will focus on sustainability, working with shadows, architecture and new products.
The upcoming Landscape Lighting Institute will include two new programs of classroom instruction in design and installation techniques, hands-on demonstrations and installations of working landscape designs. Attendees will gain extensive insight and experience with landscape lighting design, techniques and products. Divided into two parts, the lighting conference will offer a series of courses geared toward novice lighting providers and another series for those with previous experience.
This annual event is the state’s premier outdoor event, offering attendees an abundance of advice, tips and how-to presentations. The field day will also include a variety of networking possibilities and an assortment of cutting-edge industry equipment on display.
The first North American Green Roof Infrastructure Conference, Awards and Trade Show is set to debut in the historic Congress Plaza Hotel located in downtown Chicago. Attendees will be trained in green roof design and implementation techniques, including waterproofing, structural loading, plant selection, economic analysis and design. Participants can also obtain the latest information about new and existing green roof products and services at the trade show.
