The Irrigation Association recently sent a letter to Chairman Jeff Bingaman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources supporting the nomination of Sen. Ken Salazar for U.S. Secretary of Interior and urging the Senate to confirm Salazar in a timely manner.
"The Irrigation Association enjoys a healthy relationship with Senator Salazar and
respects his leadership on issues facing our nation's natural resources, specifically
water," the letter said. "We at the Irrigation Association look forward to working with Senator Salazar as the Secretary of the Interior in ways to ensure an ample water supply is available for future generations through advancements in technology and efficiency."
Copies of the letter were sent to President-elect Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Lisa Murkowski, ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
