BOISE, Idaho - Jacklin Seed, a division of Simplot, has named Rich Underwood to manage its new Albany, Ore., seed blending and warehousing facility. Underwood assumed his managerial duties on Dec. 5, 2000.
With more than 20 years experience in the seed industry, Underwood brings a strong background to his new position at Simplot. Most recently, he served as president of Halsey, Ore.-based Cebeco International Seeds, where he began his seed industry career in 1972. He is also a past president of the Oregon Seed Trade Association.
”I look forward to putting a team together right away and getting the office up and running,” said Underwood. ”I envision a great beginning for the Jacklin Seed facility in Oregon.”
According to Hiromi Yanagisawa, general manager of Jacklin Seed, “Rich brings the commitment and enthusiasm necessary for this plant to become a major seed operation in Oregon. His knowledge and expertise will help us improve the seed order process, including shipments to domestic and international markets. We believe that his leadership will turn this location into a state-of-the-art seed blending, warehousing and distribution point.”
