CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jacobsen's grounds-care unit has a new look, a new name and a new product marketing strategy.

The new name for the company's grounds-care unit is now Jacobsen Professional Grounds Care. The new name is intended to convey a message of high-quality and high-performance products. The unit also has a new logo that features a large cat poised to strike at unseen prey – a symbol of the firm's aggressive approach to the professional grounds-care market.

Jacobsen's products also will feature a new look, with the traditional Jacobsen orange accented by bold decals and diamond plate.

"Our new name and look reflect the standards of quality and performance embodied in Jacobsen products and represent the wide range of users and needs that Jacobsen equipment serves," says Jon Carlson, president of the Charlotte-based company.

In other announcements, Jacobsen has named Greg Hewitt its executive vice president of sales. Hewitt comes to Jacobsen from the Maytag Corp. where he spent 17 years in several management positions, most recently serving as vice president for customer development in the firm's The Home Depot business unit.

While at Maytag, Hewitt developed relationships between his firm and major home-improvement retailers and managed several product launches. He was one of two corporate officers out of 100 eligible to receive the company's Soaring Eagle award in 2003.

Under Hewitt's leadership, Maytag's home improvement division delivered three successive years of record revenue and operating income from 2001 to 2003, with annual growth rates of 48 percent, 20 percent and 37 percent.

"We are pleased and excited to announce the addition of Greg Hewitt to the Jacobsen team," Carlson says.. "He brings with him not only nearly two decades of extensive experience and success in sales and management, but also a level of energy and enthusiasm that is infectious."
