Industry veteran Brian Day has been appointed the new southwest regional vice president for John Deere Landscapes. Day will be based in southern California and will oversee the company’s expansion plans in Arizona, California, Nevada and southern Utah.
The announcement was made by David Werning, president of John Deere Landscapes, a distributor of landscape and irrigation products, nursery stock and supplies, landscape lighting and other industry equipment.
“Brian is no stranger to the wholesale distribution of green industry products,” Werning acknowledged. “He was a senior staff member at Century Rain Aid from 1988 to 2000, and as vice president of marketing, he contributed to Century’s nationwide success."
In this newly created position of southwest regional vice president, Brian will implement John Deere Landscapes' plans for strategic growth in the West, Werning asserted.
While at Century Rain Aid, Day was responsible for all marketing activities at a company that grew from 11 locations in 1988 to more than 140 branches in 2000 with $220 million in sales. Headquartered in Madison Heights, Mich., Century Rain Aid was acquired by Deere and Company in 2001 and, along with McGinnis Farms of Alpharetta, Ga., became part of the newly formed John Deere Landscapes.
Recently, Day has been active as vice president of sales and marketing at Bamboo Pipeline, a wholesale distributor in southern California that sells nursery, landscape supplies and irrigation products in a single-store model.
