Millions of volunteers nationwide are rallying to clean up, green up and fix up the country in connection with Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup.
The country’s largest annual community improvement program, running March through May, features 30,000 events in more than 14,000 communities, and encourages Americans to participate in hands-on activities that create healthier and cleaner places to live, work and play. President George W. Bush is honorary chair of the Great American Cleanup for the second consecutive year.
The national program kicked off the initiative March 1 in Times Square, N.Y.
Keep America Beautiful is a national, nonprofit community improvement and educational organization with a network of more than 540 affiliates.
