The state of Georgia is in the process of creating guidelines for the development of a comprehensive water plan.
The Water Study Advisory Committee met in Macon, Ga., in April to discuss the current recommendations of the four working groups, which are: 1. Planning Framework; 2. State and Sub-state/Regional Water Management; 3. Inter-basin Transfers & Basin of Origin Protection; and 4. Water Rights Structure.
There was not a lot of dissension expressed by the advisory committee as the pros and cons of the various options were presented. Most groups did not present a recommended option, according to the Georgia Green Industry Association. Final reports will be presented in July.
