Before deciding on an incentive system for your company, don’t forget to check these operational areas first, suggested Jerry Gaeta, president, The Good Earth, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
- Know every cost and every hour on a job
- Get maximum productivity before you start giving out incentives
- Make sure employees are properly equipped
- Look for a program that fairly compensates every employee
- Don’t rush into the first incentive model you see – research the program well and ask about its pitfalls
- Be consistent – employees lose confidence in systems that constantly change
