K&D Landscaping promotes 4, expands to San Luis Obispo County

Juan Sotelo will lead K&D's expansion south, while Sean Laux, Katie Hsu and Brian Gates all received promotions of their own.

K&D Landscaping, a landscape management and construction firm on California’s Central Coast, has made a series of strategic moves to kick off its 40th year in business: The company unveiled key executive promotions and a geographic expansion south into San Luis Obispo County.

Leading this expansion on the ground is Juan Sotelo, the company’s longest-tenured employee. With over 35 years of experience at K&D, Sotelo serves as maintenance supervisor. Rather than starting from scratch, the SLO branch will operate under the guidance of a K&D veteran employee.

Meanwhile, Sean Laux has been promoted from account manager to the newly created role of technology and innovation manager. Laux will lead the rollout of robotics, autonomous mowing fleets and data-driven operational systems.

Katie Hsu has been promoted to area manager in Monterey, a move made effective at the start of January. In her new role, Hsu will oversee operations in Monterey, supporting field teams and enhancing the client experience.

Plus, Brian Gates is transitioning from senior project manager to department leader of commercial construction. Gates will lead the division responsible for large-scale installations and infrastructure projects.

"Reaching our 40th year is a proud milestone, but we are focused on the future," says Justin White, CEO of K&D Landscaping. "By expanding into San Luis Obispo with Juan’s veteran leadership and elevating Sean, Katie and Brian, we are building a structure that can scale. We are matching our best talent with our biggest opportunities to ensure we continue serving our clients at a world-class level."
