Knock Out – Still the Most Sought-After Rose on the Market

After six years on the market, the Knock Out rose is still the rose consumers demand by name, says the grower.

After six years on the market, the Knock Out rose is still the rose consumers demand by name, says the grower.

Other roses with similar names are causing some confusion the company says.  According to Steve Hutton, president of The Conard-Pyle Co., other varieties being introduced may claim the Knock Out rose genetics, but these “knock-offs” should not be confused with the original.

“We are concerned consumers may confuse other plants claiming to be genetically linked to Knock Out roses as being superior as the original Knock Out roses,” says Hutton, “and that is just not the case.”

According to Hutton, only the original Knock Out® rose (varietal name ‘Radrazz’) and its family – Blushing, Pink and Double – Knock Out roses (‘Radyod’, ‘Radcon’ and ‘Radtko’) have undergone rigorous testing that make them legally worthy of the Knock Out trademark.

Because of this and other patent protections, Hutton warns that any association with the trademark Knock Out should correctly apply only to varieties tested and introduced by Conard-Pyle.

Hailed as a breakthrough shrub rose by the All-American Rose Selections in 2000, the original was bred by Bill Radler and introduced by The Conard-Pyle Co./Star Roses. Since its release millions of Knock Out® plants have been sold, making it one of the most popular roses of all time.

For more than a century, The Conard-Pyle Co has been offering American gardeners the best new roses and plants by consistently introducing cutting-edge new plants that meet their gardening needs.

Headquartered in West Grove, Pa., with operations in Maryland and California, it is one of the foremost wholesale container nurseries in the United States.
