L&L Site Upgrades Boost Online Experience

Beginning Jan. 15, access to www.lawnandlandscape.com will be limited to those involved in the green industry.

CLEVELAND — Effective later this month, access to www.lawnandlandscape.com will be limited to those involved in the green industry. Lawn & Landscape magazine has made this decision so the media, general public and others will no longer have access to the Web site — only those affiliated with the lawn care industry will have access.

Here is how it will work: To access Lawn & Landscape Online, users will need a password, which is tied to their magazine subscription. Refer to the January issue of Lawn & Landscape magazine and copy down the numbers above your name on the mailing label.

Then, follow these four easy steps.

1) Visit www.lawnandlandscape.com and a screen will appear with the following message: “To view the site we need to verify that you have a subscription to our magazine. In order to do this, you must enter your Name ID and ZIP Code into these two fields.” As soon as this match is found, the next screen will show your contact information – your name, mailing address and e-mail address – which is necessary to e-mail you your login information.

2) Click “Continue.” The next page will cross-reference between your “My Account” and your “Name ID” and “My Account,” if you already had one.

3) Click “Continue” to have your new login information e-mailed to you.

4) A link in the e-mail will direct you back to the Web site’s login page, where you can click on “Login” to enter. If you check the box that asks you if you want your login information remembered, you will never have to login again.

MESSAGE BOARD UPGRADES. Another significant upgrade to Lawn & Landscape Online is new software for our Message Board that will allow segmentation of discussions by individual topics.

The new software also allows us to create an “off-topic” area, which a number of subscribers have requested. The off-topic area will help separate general discussions from business, allowing you to join specific discussion groups that interest you.

Since it was introduced in December 2000, Lawn & Landscape Online’s Message Board has become a popular virtual community in which lawn care professionals gather to ask questions, give advice and share experiences with one another. We believe this new format will significantly improve this popular area of the site.
