Land Care receives designation

The North Las Vegas-company was verified a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Land Care, Inc., a full service, professional landscape management company headquartered in North Las Vegas, has been verified as a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).

In an order signed by President George W. Bush on October 20, 2004, all federal agencies were directed to implement Executive Order 13360, which provides opportunities for small businesses owned by disabled veterans to increase their federal contracting and subcontracting. To qualify for SDVOSB certification, more than 51 percent of a business must be owned by a service-disabled veteran, and the management and daily business operations must be controlled by one or more service disabled veterans. The application process can take as long as several years and each company must pass a rigorous screening for competence, financial stability and customer satisfaction record.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Office of Small Business Programs, expanding business opportunities for disabled American veterans is “one way to honor men and women who have served proudly and courageously in the U.S. Armed Forces.” The Council advocates at the federal, state and local levels, to encourage agencies and corporations to meet or exceed SDVOSB goals defined in E.O. 13360.

Land Care is 100 percent owned and managed by 20-year landscape contractor and U.S. Air Force Veteran Rob Diaz. Under his leadership, the company grew to be listed among Southern Nevada’s top 10 landscape management companies and recognized with numerous local, regional and national industry awards.

Diaz said he hopes the new certification will enhance his company’s ability to contract for services with government contractors, companies seeking government contracts, general contractors and federal, state and city entities.
