SAN DIEGO – LandCare recently launched the Tangerine Employee Relief Fund (TERF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers financial aid to the company’s most vulnerable team members.
TERF was established as a means to assist LandCare team members who are experiencing unexpected financial emergencies, such as major medical expenses, impending loss of housing, or loss of transportation. Through TERF, team members can apply for a grant to help pay for these difficult situations. While TERF is funded primarily through employee-to-employee giving, the fund has received considerable support from outside donors.
“Many of our team members do not have access to emergency funds when suddenly facing unexpected financial hurdles,” said CEO Mike Bogan. “LandCare team members have always stepped up to help out their fellow coworkers in need. When the hurricanes hit Florida and Houston, for example, I’m proud to say our team members were the first to offer assistance to those affected; TERF is essentially a more accessible, streamlined version of these efforts, giving employees an easier way to donate or apply for aid."
LandCare employees can donate to the fund or apply for a grant via LandCare’s website by visiting the TeamCare page. The application form can be filled out online in just a few minutes. Applications, which are kept confidential, are then reviewed by a TERF Approval Committee comprised of LandCare team members across the country. Funds are distributed at the discretion of the committee.
