LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Becker Underwood, a Chicago-based colorants manufacturer and supplier to the landscape, forestry and agricultural markets, announced that it is moving forward in web development to add a business processes for e-commerce to its marketing plan. The company selected the Ramco e.Applications enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution and Ramco's e.Biz Solutions for this online enhancement, according to Ramco Systems, provider of the business management software involved in the update.
“It's obvious that e-commerce is the way that more and more business is going to be done,” said Bill Fuller, CFO of Becker Underwood, a developer, formulator and specialized packager of colorants, dyes and other products for several industries, including turf, forestry and agriculture.
According to a press release by Ramco Systems, U.S. Department of Commerce data project that about 30 percent of all commercial transactions - roughly $5.7 trillion - will be made over the Internet by 2004. Ramco Systems said industry-leading companies will conduct nearly 80 percent of their sales via the Internet, and companies that don't use the Internet risk falling to competitors, exclusion from major market segments and lost opportunities in cost savings from online bidding and procurement.
“The Ramco solution and services will enable Becker Underwood customers to order product over the web and help the company better match production with demand,” said Subrata Kar, marketing services director of Ramco Systems.
Becker Underwood licensed the entire suite of Ramco e.Applications for its process production operations, including financials, treasury, sales, logistics, production, HR, QC and plant maintenance. The agreement covers 50 concurrent users and will eventually extend to operations in Britain and Canada.
Phase one of the development is scheduled for completion by Jan. 15, 2001.
