A Las Vegas landscape contractor was being treated for what were termed life-threatening injuries after a riding lawn mower rolled over him near a golf course, authorities said.
The man was mowing on a steep embankment near Omni Interlocken Golf Course and the Camden Apartments when he lost his balance and fell off the machine. The mower then turned back and ran over him, cutting off one of his arms.
Fellow employees and nearby golfers ran to help the man until paramedics arrived.
“(His arm) was severed completely through,” said Wendy Forbes, spokeswoman for North Metro Fire Rescue.
The man’s name was not released, but police said he was a contract employee with Las Vegas-based Navarro Landscaping.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating the accident.
