Lawn & Landscape Launches Off-Topic Message Board

By popular demand, Lawn & Landscape Online now features an Off-Topic Message Board where forum participants may discuss non-green-industry topics. Recognizing that green industry professionals do more than just work all day, the Lawn & Landscape Off-Topic Message Board is designed to allow participants to continue developing industry relationships without keeping conversations centered solely around business issues.

“Our Lawn & Landscape Online users have been asking for an off-topic forum and we’re very excited to launch this new Board for them,” says Lawn & Landscape Web Editor Lauren Spiers. “We have new readers visiting the message board every day, as well as regular participants who post messages to the Board almost daily and always have something to share. By creating the Off-Topic Message Board, we’re able to expand the networking opportunities for our readers and recognize that successful businesses don’t usually stem from ‘all work and no play.’”

Maintaining the user-friendly format of the original Message Board, participants may use the Off-Topic Message Board to discuss everything from sports and vacations to politics and entertainment. Still, both Boards maintain Terms of Use policies to which participants must adhere. The Terms of Use are:

• Post material or make statements that do not generally pertain to the designated topic or theme of the message board. 
• Defame, abuse, harass or threaten others;
• Make any bigoted, hateful or racially offensive statements;
• Advocate illegal activity or discuss illegal activities with the intent to commit them;
• Post or distribute any material that infringes and/or violates any right of a third party or any law;
• Post or distribute any vulgar, obscene, discourteous or indecent language or images;
• Advertise or sell to, or solicit others;
• Use the Forum for commercial purposes of any kind;
• [Lawn & Landscape] reserves the right to remove or edit content from any Forum at any time and for any reason.
• We at Lawn & Landscape urge users to consult with their own legal counsel to ensure that their activities in the message board conform to state and federal law and to always follow the law in use of the message board.

When asked last week in an online poll “Which portion of Lawn & Landscape Online do you visit most frequently,” the majority of respondents – 32 percent – chose the Message Board. With the introduction of the new off-topic forum, Lawn & Landscape looks forward to more new visitors to the site.
