Lawn & Landscape Online Survey Contest Winners Announced

Lawn & Landscape Online’s first reader survey generated close to 1,000 responses from faithful users of the web site. The winners have been announced.

CLEVELAND – Lawn & Landscape Online’s first reader survey generated close to 1,000 responses from faithful users of the web site. Lawn & Landscape Online would like to thank all respondents of the survey. Your answers will help determine what the most valuable resources are on the site and will initiate content changes and developments to make the site more useful. Congratulations to the following contest winners:

1st Place: Connie Danforth – Danforth is new to the industry with a recently sparked interest in the lawn ornament market. As a current realtor, she knows the value of maintaining an aesthetically pleasing property to increase its value. That is what has piqued her interest in molding and creating concrete lawn ornaments, fountains and bird baths to sell to landscape professionals and homeowners alike. Danforth is also interested in getting into the pond installation market as she and her husband recently built a pond on their property. As the randomly drawn fist place prizewinner, Danforth will receive a Nikon CoolPIX 800 digital camera (estimated value: $500) courtesy of Lawn & Landscape Online.

2nd Place: Scott Van De Velde – As co-owner of Davis Landscape Inc., Van De Velde has enjoyed a long career in the landscaping business. His 22 years experience, coupled with his partner’s 16 years experience, has helped the Cumming-Ga.-based company grow from a $250,000 a year business in 1994 to a $1.3 million a year business in 1999. Van De Velde expects to see those numbers rise by approximately $0.5 million this year. The company performs approximately 90 percent installation and 10 percent maintenance and irrigation. As second place winner in the drawing, Van De Velde will receive a $100 gift certificate for Lawn & Landscape Online’s LawnStore, the premier resource for helping industry professionals grow their businesses.

3rd Place: John Beauregard – Beauregard is the owner of J & M Landscaping in Colchester, Conn. He started the company three years ago and has 14 years experience in the industry. J & M Landscaping offers a wide variety of services, including mowing, cleanups, planting, aerating, dethatching and overseeding. Beauregard estimates his business volume to be about 50 percent installation, 30 percent design and 20 percent maintenance, and his client base includes roughly 60 mowing, 20 maintenance, 15 design and five plowing customers. Beauregard will receive a $50 gift certificate for Lawn & Landscape Online’s LawnStore as third place winner in the drawing.
