Water pressure problems throughout the Sarasota County, Fla. area due to high usage on weekends prompted county commissioners to alter lawn irrigation guidelines.
Effective immediately, lawns previously watered on Sundays will now be watered on Thursdays, according to a county press statement.
This change effects properties that end in odd numbers or letters A through M.
These watering restrictions don't just apply to those who receive water from a utility system. Those who use wells, ponds or other sources also must follow the guidelines.
Sarasota County's one-day-a-week landscaping regulations began in 2000 to deal with a drought. Officials decided to leave the regulations in place to conserve water, according to a press release.
There are some exceptions to watering restrictions, including newly planted lawn and landscape areas.
