Whether it be using biodegradable garbage bags or organic fertilizer, Congress 2009’s Green Forum will teach professionals in the horticulture, lawn & garden and landscape industries how to become more green. The first ever, Communities in Bloom sponsored, Green Forum will be held from January 6-8, 2009 at the Toronto Congress Centre.
As a new feature of Congress this year, The Green Forum will be presenting and sharing the best practices in the landscape and horticulture industry, demonstrating leadership in environmental goals of:
- Efficient resource consumption;
- Reduced waste and pollution;
- Increased health and safety benefits; and
- Sustainable development and local procurement.
The Green Forum will have its own dedicated space on the Congress 2009 show floor and will encompass: Companies showcasing their green products and services, a special stage for presentations on a variety of green topics, meeting areas for networking and workshops and demonstrations.
Exhibitors from all over North America will use the Green Forum to showcase their green products. Some notable ‘green’ booths include:
- Rittenhouse’s Compost Tea Maker, which both reduces the use of synthetic fertilizers
- Snapedge Canada’s cleverly named,
- Floa-Constrictor , a water management device
- Natural Insect Control’s variety of environmentally friendly biopesticides
Over the show’s three days, the special stage will host leading ‘green’ industry experts presenting a variety of topics. From Phil Bull of Turf Revolution discussing, “Understanding the NEW lawn care industry” to Mathis Natvik of Natvik Design Inc. speaking about, “Sustainable landscapes for urban settings,” presentations will surely pique the interest of attendees.
With more than 12,000 landscape and horticulture professionals anticipated, there is no better place to network with others in the industry. Everyone attending The Green Forum, from suppliers to clients, colleagues to competitors, owners to technicians and experts to beginners, has a good reason to be there.
