Lebanon Turf is adding slow-release fertilizer to its list of green industry offerings.
The company recently purchased a patented, slow-release fertilizer technology from Homestead Nitrogen Corporation. The resulting turf products are designed to extend the benefits of ammonium and potassium sulfates in a slowly available form without the need for coatings.
“This proprietary technology delivers the turf grass management professional all the benefits of ammonium sulfate and potassium sulfate in an affordable long lasting, granular form,” noted Paul Grosh, Professional Division business manager. “No other nitrogen source provides the efficient color response of ammonium sulfate, and now it's available in an economical slow-release form.”
Market research conducted by the Lebanon, Penn.-based manufacturing company indicates that the potassium version of this fertilizer technology will be a good fit for the industry in terms of budget and benefits, Grosh acknowledged.
According to the recent acquisition agreement, Lebanon Turf will have exclusive marketing rights to these products under the brand names MESA and EXPO. And Grosh expects the new offerings – especially MESA – will catch the attention of landscape contractors.
“MESA, the slow release ammonium sulfate product is a great option for landscapers/lawn care companies that want an economical alternative to SCU that offers superior performance,” he described. “Our market research indicates that EXPO will best fit the needs of the sports turf (including golf) manager.”
In general, sulfate sources are recognized by agronomists as the most the efficient and effective plant nutrient sources, Grosh noted. “And this technology allows them to be applied in an economical, slow-release form. It is commercially available from Lebanon distributors currently.”
