Andrew Karl Smith

Andrew Karl Smith, 50, of Boyne City, Mich., passed away May 14 in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the University of Michigan Health System. Smith was born January 23, 1965 in Lansing, Mich. to Beverly (Brynglesom) and Frank Smith, Jr. He grew up in Lansing and attended Everett High School. Smith later attended Michigan State University. On August 24, 1991, he married Kimberly Bannatyne (Daughter of Greg and Sandy Bannatyne) in Traverse City, Mich. On June 2, 1998 they welcomed their daughter, Madison Smith.
Smith was the owner of a small irrigation business before becoming a lobbyist for the Irrigation Association. He has worked for Reinke Irrigation and his most recent position title was director of technology adoption for Valmont Industries. His's hobbies included hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He was a proud member of the NRA and also the CIA.
Smith was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Karl Smith Jr., in January 2001. He is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, brother, sister, in-laws, and many aunts, uncles, nephews, niece, cousins and close friends.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 20th at Stackus Funeral home from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 21st at 2 p.m. at Walloon Lake Community Church with Pastors Kenneth Bernthall and Peter Elliot officiating. A procession to Maple Lawn Cemetery will then take place and immediately following the burial a light luncheon at Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City.
