DAYTON, Ohio – To maintain ties to the local community where their clients and team members live, and to provide relief to some of the people that need it, the people at Grunder Landscaping Company began a company-wide event in December called Grunder Gives Back. The Grunder team decided they would rather provide a helping hand during the holiday season than have a company holiday party, and for 2016 they chose two organizations to help.
Among many programs Catholic Social Services provides, one is called Santa’s Shop. It is a store for people in need to gather free, unwrapped gifts for their loved ones. Grunder Landscaping Company collected gifts and delivered them to Santa’s Shop (hosted by Becker Electric this year) on Dec. 16.
“The assortment and quantity of gifts that the Grunder Team has donated has been truly impressive and a testament to the good people we have here,” said Amber Fox, human resources manager at Grunder.
In addition to that, more than 30 members of the Grunder team went to The FoodBank in Dayton to help sort and pack food packages for families in the Dayton area. The food was collected in food barrels around town that people filled with donations. Team Grunder shared a pizza lunch in the FoodBank meeting room and then got to work preparing boxes of food for needy and hungry people in Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties. They were able to pack up nearly 1,200 individual boxes of food.
"All of us at Grunder Landscaping are grateful to be able to give back to the community in which we live and work,” said Paul Stoll, vice president of operations. “It’s also a wonderful way to have fun with our fellow team members.”
