Terracare Associates, a Denver-based landscape maintenance company, has renewed its commitment to the Columbine Memorial Foundation to provide voluntary maintenance services to the Columbine Memorial for 2012.
The 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., touched the entire country and the world. As a community and nation, many were shocked in disbelief that such a senseless act could take place in one of our communities. Clement Park in Jefferson County became the site of a permanent public memorial. Completed in 2007, the memorial serves to honor the innocent victims of the tragedy providing a historical record of the horrific event, as well as to deliver a message of hope to the many generations to come.
The yearly maintenance of the memorial is substantial and had been difficult for the foundation to raise funds for year after year. Previously they relied completely on volunteers to assist in the maintenance of the memorial. In 2010, Terracare Associates volunteered to provide on-going maintenance services to the Columbine Memorial Foundation. Terracare Associates views their participation in this project honorably and understands the important role they play in contributing to the memory that this project represents.
Terracare Associates’ donation to maintain the memorial has been a huge burden lifted from the foundation, and one that is in line with the company’s core values to become intimately involved in the communities in which they work, live, and play.
