Let’s talk benchmarks

This month, Lawn & Landscape tweeted all about keeping tabs on the market and your business in the latest #landscapechat.

Looking at industry benchmarks is not only a great way to stay competitive in the industry; it’s an extremely useful tool for growth. Lawn & Landscape recently shared exclusive research on everything from sales to salaries in the latest #landscapechat with Corona Tools on Twitter. If you weren’t able to join us, here are some of the key takeaways:

We partnered w/ ABR Research, a national independent research company, to conduct our internet-based survey. Participants were all randomly selected Lawn & Landscape subscribers. In all, we received 602 completed surveys with a margin of error of 4 percent.

We spoke with Jim Huston, green industry management consultant and founder of J.R. Huston Consulting, to analyze the data.

Our reserach found these benchmarks for salary:

  • $300K revenue: monthly base salary of $3,000 to $4,000; year-end bonus on dividends of $12,000 to $24,000
  • $600K revenue: monthly base salary of $4,000 to $6,000 ($5,000 average); year-end bonus on dividends of $24,000 to $36,000
  • $1M revenue: monthly base salary of $6,000 to $8,000; year-end bonus on dividends of $48,000 or more
