Colorado lawn care association hosts annual conference

The Spring Training Conference will be held in March and will offer classes for license renewal.

The Colorado Association of Lawn Care Professionals will present its annual Spring Training Conference March 1-2 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Northglenn, Colo.  Attracting more than 250 participants, the conference will provide all classes required to complete license renewal for professional and private applicators. Continuing Education Credits for all who work in the green industry will include 2 laws and regulations, all 5 core credits, and specialty categories for turf (206 ), ornamental (207), right of way (109), rangeland (107), forestry (106), ag weed (103), and aquatic (108).  Especially beneficial is the certification of new-hires or non-licensed personnel with 16 hours of verifiable training.

The conference’s split format will divide attendees into classes for continuing education credits and non-licensed attendees credits. The idea is to allow the course content to be more tailored to the needs of each group. Topics covered include: tree ID, turf and tree diseases and insects; turf and Ag weed control, right of way and rangeland credits; mountain pine beetle management; a Q&A from the Col. Dept. of Ag, control of weeds in ditches, and an outdoor hands-on demo of ATV turf spraying and application. Classes offered that do not get credits include the State of Water in the State, and Chasing Real Rabbits: what makes authentic success and workplace morale.

The “fun” program this year will feature Corey Ciocchetti on Chasing Real Rabbits:  What Makes Authentic Success and Workplace Morale. He encourages people of all ages to chase the truly important things in life such as solid character, strong personal relationships and a sense of contentment. These “real rabbits” are compared and contrasted to worldly types of success such as excessive wealth, popularity and prestige. The importance of employee morale and how employees treat and are treated by co-workers will be included.

The conference also will offer a trade show featuring suppliers to the lawn care profession.

“The educational value gained at this successful conference makes this a must attend for both licensed applicators and new hires who get 16 hours of verifiable training,” says Deb Zediker, Covillo Landscape, chair of the conference. “Not every company has the luxury of having an expert on staff, in all of the covered topics, to give the proper information to employees, as well as certify them. This conference allows businesses to receive the quality training necessary to perform an efficient and safe service for their clients.”
