With more than 750 landscapers weighing in from all 50 states, we got a good look at how you think the Trump administration will affect the green industry over the next four years.
Landscapers and LCOs really know how to get out the vote. Eighty-eight percent said they vote regularly and the majority believe that their vote has an impact on the landscape and lawn care industry. And a majority (73 percent) voted for the incoming president.

While many things remain uncertain, business owners are feeling positive about business taxes. Three-quarters of those surveyed believe the outcome of the election will have a positive impact on their business taxes.
But landscapers around the country have many concerns to watch over the next four years. From health insurance to H-2B to tax reform, there are a lot of issues to watch.

Other answers include:
- Immigration reform
- Climate change
- Over-regulation
- Environmental regulations
- Term limits

Positive predictions:
With more than half of landscapers saying that they’re feeling positive about the current political climate, many are optimistic about the changes that will come under the Trump administration. Here is what they think will change under Donald Trump:
“Whether corporate or individual, slow dependence on the government. Also, to remove the government from our lives through less regulation and a smaller government.”
“Seal up the borders and start fixing problems at home. Hopefully. If not at least business as usual has been disrupted. Time for change.”
“Many things, accountability at many levels, healthcare reform, tax cuts, military buildup, immigration reform of some type, jobs increase here in the states, to name just a few.”
“Pride will be restored. Revenue will tend to remain in country, encouraging more spending. America will regain top dog status in the world. Military will build back up from the recent gutting. The weak link will no longer pull standards to the bottom. Our nation will be able to hold her head up when our President travels the world and represents us, thank God.”
“People who feel positive about the economy are more inclined to use disposable income for landscape improvements. Fewer regulations make for a lower cost to conduct business.”
Negative predictions:
Others, however, are concerned about what the next four years will bring. Here are some of their concerns:
“The electorate will lose freedoms and wealth will shift further into the hands of the 1%. Environmental considerations along with consideration of medium and low income people will be completely obliterated.”
“The EPA will be gutted. He will denigrate the Presidency and establish a chaotic administration with his inability to articulate clearly, his thin-skinned reactions and lack of concentration on real issues. Conflicts of interest will abound. Once proud political institutions will be redefined with a reality television mindset. Hispanic workers that we honor, trust and rely upon will live in greater fear. Business taxes may be lowered and environmental regulations wholly lifted without regard, pleasing businesses that are looking to short term solutions or that see any kind of chemical restriction in a negative light.”
“Customers are going to practice deferred maintenance on their homes. Layoffs are already planned for several large companies. This is a negative scenario for our industry.”
“A decline in the economy that will cause business to slow; limitations to the H-2B program that will exacerbate the labor shortage.”
