PLANET hosts largest recruiting event

Students will compete for awards and interview for jobs and internships with landscape companies.

HERNDON, Va. – Registration is open for companies to attend the largest recruiting event in the landscape industry. Student Career Days – the National Collegiate Landscape Competition – will take place March 12–15, 2015, at North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, N.C.

Student Career Days brings together approximately 850 horticulture and landscape students from more than 65 schools to test their skills in real-world, competitive events, and to interview with landscape, lawn care, irrigation and other companies at the Career Fair, which will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015.

Ed Furner, Landscape Industry Certified, Student Career Days chair, is a former student attendee of the event and describes it this way: “This is the largest recruiting event of its kind in the landscape industry. It helps build careers, and it exposes students and recruiters alike to the bright future of the landscape industry.”

This year, attendees will be charged with supporting PLANET AEF’s Take Stock in a Student initiative. Contributions to the annual Take Stock initiative provide funds to build an Ambassador – level scholarship for a deserving student. The 2014 scholarship recipient will be recognized during this year’s event.

Each year, approximately 60 companies participate in the Career Fair where they have exclusive access to the nation’s top landscape industry students. Many of the industry’s largest companies attend Student Career Days and sponsor one or more of the 28 competitive events. In doing so, they are making an investment in the future of the industry.
