NOVI, Mich. and BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Residex, a North American-based independent distributor of professional pest control and turfgrass management supplies, announced today that they have added Billy Humphrey to its salesforce and have hired David Helt to serve as Turf Division Director.
Helt, formerly the US manager of sales and marketing for Direct Solutions, brings over a decade of experience in pricing, financial planning, analysis, strategy and sales.
“We are excited and honored to have someone with David’s breadth of experience and knowledge join our team,” said Ron Calhoun, director of marketing at Residex. “David will play a key role in providing strategic direction to Residex’s Turf Division as it transitions into many new markets.”
During his tenure at a leading oil company, he was responsible for managing a $3.5 billion dollar fuels marketing and operations division. Helt also provided leadership and growth at Agrium Advanced Technologies, a major producer and distributor of agricultural products in North America, South America and Australia, and the aforementioned Direct Solutions.
In his new role as the leader of the Turf Division, Helt will be responsible for growing Residex’s turf revenue in the United States, by executing a focused product strategy built around a full line of branded, generic and proprietary turf products and services.
Helt graduated from the University of Chicago with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA).

An industry veteran with 25 years of experience in the Green Industry, Humphrey has spent his career selling to Lawn Care Operators (LCO’s), the golf industry, and Pest Control Operators (PCO’s). He was most recently with Direct Solutions, a supplier of controlled-release fertilizers and crop protection products to the professional turf, horticulture, and agriculture industries. In his new role, Humphrey will be responsible for Turf Sales in Birmingham, and throughout Alabama, as well as a portion of the Florida Panhandle. He will work out of the new Residex location at 288 Oxmoor Ct., Suite A-1 in Birmingham.

Humphrey is PLANET Certified and he is also a member of the Gulf Coast Golf Course Superintendents Association of American (GCSAA) and the Alabama Turfgrass Association (ATA).
