WGIF Don Groth Scholarship awarded

The Wisconsin association gave two students money to pursue horticulture degrees.

Kathy Kingcaid and Kristy Goggio have each received the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation $500 Don Groth Scholarship for Horticulture Students at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Both women will be awarded their scholarship in a special ceremony at MATC by horticulture instructor Gary Stanwood.

Kathy Kingcaid is from Milwaukee and is working toward completing her associate degree. Along with finishing her degree, Kathy wants to gain experience in the field and find a position with which she could support her family.  She’s looking at different aspects of the industry to find the path that will suit her best. Kathy relies on her skills in time management, her top-notch work, her patience and self-motivation, and her practice of setting high personal goals to help her achieve her objective.

Kristy Goggio, from the Oconomowoc area, is interested in finding a position with a well-regarded landscape design firm upon completion of her degree. She looks forward to gaining additional knowledge by working with experienced professionals.

“I would like to earn a reputation as a designer who practices good land stewardship, knowledge of native planting and concern for the environment and what individuals can do that would benefit these matters,” said Kristy.
