Wright Manufacturing has been recognized as Member Company of the Year by the Maryland World Class Consortium. The honor was given to the Frederick, Md. commercial lawnmower manufacturer for its lean manufacturing experience.
The annual award is presented to the member company that has embraced lean manufacturing and “exemplified excellence in lean implementation and transformation over the last year.” Wright was cited for sharing its knowledge of the process with other companies.
Wright met all 10 requirements for the award, but Wright president Shawn Wolf said the company was singled out for the way in which it met two of them. One required companies to “act as a role model for other MWCC members or non-member companies by motivating and inspiring others to embrace lean;” and to “support MWCC goals and values through mentoring others, sharing lessons learned and best practices, providing tours, hosting workshops, providing volunteers or other methods.”
Wolf said, “Thanks to many of you who have participated in preparing for and delivering tours. Our openness to share our story and to help others begin their lean journey is a high value to the consortium. Thanks to each of you for being a part of our journey and your attention to lean principles as we attempt to apply them.”
