Swingle names landscape care consultant

Bernie Smith will now cover the central east side of the Denver Metro area.

DENVER, Colo. — Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care, Colorado’s lawn and tree care experts announce the promotion of Bernie Smith to Landscape Care Consultant. Smith’s area of responsibility will cover the central east side of the Denver Metro area and includes the following communities: Brighton, Commerce City, Aurora, Lowry, Stapleton, Watkins, Bennett, and Strasburg.

A certified arborist and experienced in landscape care, Smith will focus on growing the market and helping create awareness of the most destructive urban forest in North America, most recently found in Boulder, the emerald ash borer.

“Bernie’s goal has always been to transition from operations into sales. He’s worked extremely hard to achieve this position and we look forward to the years of experience he brings to the team," says Swingle Director of Sales and Marketing Eric Gunderson.

Smith has enjoyed a long-lasting career in the Green Industry. He started in the Pruning Department at Swingle in 1994, where he excelled at pruning large shade trees and cross-training with the Irrigation Department. He then moved to Denver Tree Care where he performed in dual roles as the Trim Department Manager and Sales, until 2002 when he rejoined Swingle as an Enhancement Services Supervisor. Smith then progressed to the Irrigation Manager, Fort Collins Branch Manager, and Enhancement Services Assistant Manager. Since 2010, Smith has led Swingle’s Routing Department as the Routing Supervisor.

“I truly believe Bernie will make peoples’ lives more enjoyable through the value he brings. His positive attitude, enthusiasm, and commitment are unparalleled,” says Swingle Marketing Manger Vincent Serio.

While participating in ensuring a seamless transition in the leadership of Swingle’s Routing Department, Smith will assume his role as Landscape Care Consultant and begin connecting with the communities he will be serving.
