UNION, Mo. – Hard winters can bring hard times for a lot of people. They can also bring good news to communities. This years’ harsh winter allowed The Grounds Guys of Union to be able to donate $1,100 in food and toiletries to the Union Food Pantry.
The harsh winter conditions that have been sweeping throughout most of the U.S. have had The Grounds Guys of Union working a lot of extra hours, which allowed them to donate to the food pantry.
“We received a lot of work for snow removal and thought it would be great to give back to our community,” said Phil Klemme, Owner of The Grounds Guys of Union. “Everyone in the company wanted to be a part of it. We think that it is a very important cause, especially with the winter we have been having.”
The Food Pantry received personal and food items, which helped the community members who depend on the Union Food Pantry services.
“We were really needing to get personal items,” said Jan Brennan Union Food Pantry volunteer. “We were having to use monetary donations to purchase those items. Getting them donated helped us a lot. Donations from the community keep the shelves stocked and we appreciate all of them because if it was not for their donations we would not have a food pantry.”
The Union Food Pantry is a Christian outreach program that receives help from donations and the United Way. They serve the areas of Union and Villa Ridge.
The Grounds Guys of Union believes in supporting the community. They look to continue their support of the Union Food Pantry and other local businesses.
“We really like seeing our Grounds Guys companies giving back to the community,” said Chris Elmore, president of The Grounds Guys. “That is what we are all about. We want to better the places we serve. Whether it is through donations, snow removal or landscaping services, we really are about making things better for the communities we serve.”
