Why you hardscape

Techo-Bloc held a Contractor Showcase in Cleveland, giving attendees the chance to learn about running a better hardscape business.

As part of Techo-Bloc’s 55-stop tour, representatives from the company stopped in Cleveland on Feb. 12 for its Contractor Showcase for 2016.

Highlighting their new products for 2016, Paver Pete, along with a handful of sales reps talked to the crowd of 200 contractors interested in the hardscape side of the business.

Here are a few takeaways:
  • You shouldn’t visit every lead you get. You need to look and find the jobs that are a good fit for your company, otherwise you could do 300 jobs and not make any money.
  • Find a way to stand out to potential clients. To explain this point, Paver Pete showed the crowd a brochure for a company that offers a wide range of services. Every service was highlighted on the brochure, making the company almost look generic. “If you’re going to differentiate yourself, this isn’t the way to do it,” he said. Instead, highlight one service you offer, to target the customers who are specifically looking for that.
  • Paver Pete described different design specialties, build specialties and quality specialties, and how contractors should target customers that will mesh well with their own personalities.
