Lawn Doctor of Grand Rapids announced the acquisition of the company by Kendall Hines and a private investor. Hines will succeed his parents as the new owner and president of the company.
“I started on the lawns with my dad when I was eight years old,” Hines said. “I learned this business from the ground up. Now, my focus is on building our momentum.”
Hines has served in a variety of positions from technician to sales. He previously served as president and head of sales, leading a team that included both his parents and his twin brothers, Jordan and Matt, and four seasonal workers.
In addition, Hines was instrumental in helping the company gain some larger commercial accounts, including Gerald R. Ford International Airport, the City of Grand Rapids and Forest Hills Public Schools.
His leadership style is also notable for use of new marketing. In addition to traditional marketing methods, Hines has a strong following on social media and the company airs a weekly Facebook show called Lawn Doctor Live. “We use innovative marketing techniques to spread the word about our great service,” he said.
With the change in ownership, Hines said his parents have stepped out of the business while he and his brothers continue managing the business. Jordan will step up as Lawn Doctor of Grand Rapids’ operations manager.
