Douglas Dynamics wins infringement appeal

The appellate court ruled in favor of the company after a competitor infringed on its patents.

MILWAUKEE – Douglas Dynamics has announced that an appellate court has affirmed a federal trial court judgment from 2014, which ruled in favor of the company after a competitor infringed its patents.

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in January of 2016 affirmed the 2014 decision of the trial court in Douglas Dynamics LLC v. Buyers Products Co. awarding Douglas damages for Buyers Products’ infringement. Previously, the same court ruled that Buyers Products, which offers the SnowDogg line of snow removal equipment, cannot sell products that the courts found to infringe Douglas Dynamics’ patents.

“Our company has always maintained an exceptional commitment to engineering and we consider our intellectual property a valuable asset which we will diligently defend,” said Jim Janik, chairman, president and CEO. “We are pleased the decision was upheld and remain committed to consistently producing the most innovative, highest quality and most reliable attachments and equipment on the market.”
