ASIC honors Daryl Green

The society's advocate and volunteer received the Sam Tobey Lifetime Achievement Award.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – American Society of Irrigation Consultant advocate and volunteer Daryl Green, Green Product Sales (GPS), will be awarded the American Society of Irrigation Consultants 2017 Sam Tobey Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s National Conference, in Seattle, Washington.

Green has an energy and tireless passion for the industry that is channeled through his goal to keep the industry unified through communication, education and awareness. He has volunteered countless hours to both the northern and southern California chapters of American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC). He has served on ASIC SoCal boards of directors and chaired numerous fund raisers and technical meetings for countless years.

Green Product Sales was founded in 2005 by Daryl Green as a product representation and technical resources company that focuses on water related products designed for all aspects of the irrigation trade. He represents multiple water management product lines and provides sales and support for his clients. Products include pumping systems, irrigation control systems, injection systems and water reuse systems. Prior to forming Green Product Sales, Green worked as district manager for United Green Tech, Inc. and was the landscape and irrigation coordinator for the planned community of Cota De Caza. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, he has used his degree in ornamental horticulture and landscape contracting to serve the industry with passion and expertize.

Although best known in California, where his company, GPS, has a presence, he is no stranger to ASIC National. Carol Colein, executive director, noted that for two years in a row, Green was the first one to register for the onference – within minutes of registration opening. His company, GPS, has been a consistent national conference sponsor.

Steve Hohl, owner of Water Concern, LTD. of Rancho Santa Margarita and past president of ASIC, had this to say about Green: “It’s four simple words – Daryl-loves-this-industry. He was the first person to greet me into the industry. Whether it’s the latest technology, a new design technique, a recent ordinance revision, a new bottle of wine, Western Outdoor News fishing stats, or the latest college football news, Daryl relates to everything through everyone.”

Although Green's efforts have been primarily regional, the ASIC Awards Committee felt they were strong enough to deserve national recognition. As a five time recipient of the SoCal chapter Member of the Year Award, the California members are fully aware of Green’s contributions and are pleased to have such a deserving member acknowledged at a national level.
