Rhodeside & Harwell announces promotions

Melissa Rainer and Drew Taylor serve as landscape designers and project managers for the company.


ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Rhodeside & Harwell has promoted Melissa Rainer and Drew Taylor, ASLA, to senior associate. Both professionals serve as landscape designers and project managers in the firm’s Alexandria, Virginia office. 

Rainer joined Rhodeside & Harwell in 2005 and has 15 years of experience in landscape architecture. She has completed a wide range of projects, including restoration of historic urban parks and design of educational campuses and residential gardens. Rainer has contributed to a number of restoration projects at Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey. She has served as a landscape designer and project manager for projects at The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and the Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, Virginia. Recent projects also include design services for the Rhode Island Avenue Streetscape Master Plan and assistance with the renovation of the South African Embassy, both in Washington, D.C. 
 
Rainer holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. 
 
Taylor joined Rhodeside & Harwell in 2008 and has 17 years of experience in landscape architecture. He has worked extensively on urban and infill design projects, urban residential communities, and parks. His varied experience includes designing and monitoring the construction of landscape improvements at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C., the Westover Apartments in Arlington, Virginia and the Regional Health Professions Center at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Taylor has also contributed to the landscape design of several U.S. embassies overseas, including facilities in Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Equatorial Guinea, and Papua New Guinea.
 
Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a registered landscape architect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
