Raleigh-based Canopy Lawn Care has come to Charlotte.
The technology-enabled landscaping startup announced it recently acquired a Huntersville-based lawn care company called Southscape Landscaping. The acquisition marks the startup’s entrance into the Charlotte market.
“We couldn’t be happier to now be serving customers in Charlotte,” said Keith Freeman, chief operating officer of Canopy Lawn Care. “Southscape has built a reputation of providing dedicated, high quality landscape management service for their customers and we look forward to continuing to provide their residential customers with the level of service they have come to expect, hopefully doing even better.”
The company has also announced that Michael Hrivnak, NCCTP, CSFM has joined the team in Raleigh.
Hrivnak, a graduate of North Carolina State University’s Agronomy and Turfgrass Management program, brings more than 18 years of turfgrass management and knowledge to Canopy. Hrivnak is a North Carolina certified turfgrass professional, a certified sports field manager and a board member on the Turfgrass Council of North Carolina.
After working with pro sports teams like the Durham Bulls and the Washington Nationals on their grounds management programs, Hrivnak went on to work in both residential and commercial turfgrass management, as well as sales and distribution of custom blended fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides before joining Canopy Lawn Care.

Canopy has spent the last year and half growing exponentially in the Triangle region of North Carolina, and just recently expanded to Charlotte. With dozens of self-contained lawn maintenance trailers now on the road, Canopy has more than 40 employees, many of whom are their valued residential lawn maintenance crews.
