LAYTONSVILLE, Md. – Nineteen Ruppert Landscape employees were honored recently as the company presented its annual awards at a banquet held at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.
“These awards spotlight exceptional individuals whose superior efforts and skills have benefited our customers and our employees,” said President Phil Key. “We are truly proud of each of these individuals and what they’ve accomplished.”
Clyde Vadner Merit Award
This award is one of the company’s top two honors and recognizes the individual who has contributed continuous, consistent, long-term hard work, dedication and job skill that has helped to shape the company. Mike Ward (director of pre-construction services & estimating, Landscape Construction Division) is a nineteen-year veteran of the Ruppert organization. “Mike exemplifies so many of the qualities that are the cornerstone of our Ruppert Values,” said Bob Jones, president of Ruppert’s Landscape Construction Division. “Not only is he a sharp leader that challenges people to be their best, he’s also innovative, hard-working and has created many procedures that have improved efficiency across the division.” Ward resides in Martinsburg, W. Va.
Achievement Award
This award is also one of the company’s two top honors, and recognizes the employee who has made a significant contribution in 2014 through outstanding job execution and high-quality results. Ken Railey (director of fleet operations) has been with Ruppert for 18 years. “Ken embodies one of our core Ruppert values, that of maintaining a strong image among industry standards,” said Phil Key, president. “His intense focus on our fleet and its image has far reaching effects with increased company-wide efficiency, higher morale and elevated company pride. His work ethic and high standards align well with our team and he’s good example for all of us.” Railey currently resides in Woodbine, Md. with his permanent residence being in Corinth, Miss.
Impact Award
These awards are given to the employee whose outstanding dedication and contributions have made a positive impact on their individual branch. This year, there were 17 recipients:
• Mike Fleming (area manager), a nine-year Ruppert employee from Hampstead, Md. received the honor for the Baltimore Landscape Management branch
• Charles Braxton Williams (field manager), an six-year Ruppert employee from Rock Hill, S.C. received the honor for the Charlotte Landscape Management branch
• Jayme Whatman (executive assistant, Landscape Construction Division), a three-year Ruppert employee from Mt. Airy, Md. received the honor for the Corporate branch
• Alex Brooks (business developer), a five-year Ruppert employee from Crofton, Md. received the honor for the Forestville Landscape Management branch
• Glenn Hall (shop manager), a ten-year Ruppert employee from Damascus, Md. received the honor for the Frederick Landscape Management branch
• Oscar Miranda (field manager), a five-year Ruppert employee from Manassas, Va. received the honor for the Gainesville Landscape Management branch
• Joe Maes (project manager), an eight-year Ruppert employee from Cumming, Ga. received the honor for the Georgia Landscape Construction branch
• Kurt Myers (enhancement manager), a thirteen-year Ruppert employee from Loganville, Ga. received the honor for the Georgia Landscape Management branch
• Mary Ellen Burton (branch administrator), a seven-year Ruppert employee from Mt. Airy, Md. received the honor for the Laytonsville Landscape Management branch
• Pedro Pina (field manager), a two-year employee from Woodbridge, Va. received the honor for the Alexandria Landscape Management branch
• Jim Wachter (project manager), a three-year Ruppert employee from Kensington, Md. received the honor for the Maryland Landscape Construction branch
• Chris O’Shea (operations manager/business developer), a three-year Ruppert employee from Durham, N.C. received the honor for the North Carolina Landscape Construction branch
• Dave Wakeling (area manager), a thirteen-year Ruppert employee from Smyrna, Del. received the honor for the Toughkenamon (Pennsylvania) Landscape Management branch
• Kim Gasper (business developer), a six-year Ruppert employee from Lansdale, Pa. received the honor for the King of Prussia Landscape Management branch
• Juan Carmona (field manager) a three-year Ruppert employee from Apex, N.C. received the honor for the Raleigh Landscape Management branch
• Rufus “Butch” Rinker (enhancement manager) a two-year Ruppert employee from Richmond, Va. received the honor for the Richmond Landscape Management branch
• Kelly McGuire (business developer), a three-year Ruppert employee from Royal Oak, Md. received the honor for the Virginia Landscape Construction branch
