The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting applications for the 2012 WaterSense Partner of the Year awards. Now in its fifth year, the program recognizes overall excellence in water efficiency and efforts that help advance the WaterSense mission and brand awareness. Landscape professionals who are Irrigation Association WaterSense partners are encouraged to apply.
WaterSense irrigation partners are eligible to apply if they became a partner prior to Jan. 1, 2012 and are current with their certification(s). To review the submission requirements and apply for the award, click here.
IA members have been the recipients of the first four Irrigation Partner of the Year awards.
• 2008: IA board director and ambassador Timothy Malooly, PLT, Backflow, CIC, CID, CLIA, of Irrigation By Design, Inc. (Plymouth, Minn.)
• 2009: Brian Vinchesi of Irrigation Consulting, Inc. (Pepperell, Mass.), head of the IA's Smart Water Applications Technology initiative and past chair of the Irrigation Foundation
• 2010: Judy Benson, CIC, CID, CLIA, from Clear Water Products and Services (Winter Springs, Fla.)
• 2011: Christopher Curry, CID, CLIA, from Sweeney and Associates (Murrieta, Calif.)
IA Vice President Bob Dobson, CIC, CID, from Middletown Sprinkler Company (Port Monmouth, N.J.) also earned an Excellence award in 2010, which recognizes additional individuals whose WaterSense support stood out in one or more of the evaluation categories.
Award winners will be announced at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Oct. 3 - 5. Award applications are due by April 6.
