FALLS CHURCH, Va. – The Irrigation Foundation announces irrigation winners of the Professional Landscape Network’s Student Career Days annual competition. The Irrigation Foundation co-sponsored three irrigation-related competitions at this year’s event. More than 850 students from 71 schools participated in PLANET’s 37nd Annual Student Career Days, March 7 – 10, in Auburn, Ala., at Auburn University.
The five 2013 irrigation competition winners will be part of the Foundation’s 2013 class of Irrigation E3 Learners and will receive all-expenses-paid trips to the 2013 Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Austin, Texas, Nov. 4 – 8. This year’s winners were:
• Irrigation Design: Jeff Elshoff, Michigan State University (East Lansing, Mich.)
• Irrigation Assembly: Robby Meyer and Jonathan Stuart, Gwinnett Technical College (Lawrenceville, Ga.)
• Irrigation Troubleshooting: Jeff Elshoff and Dave Erdman, Michigan State University (East Lansing, Mich.)
“Student Career Days is a fantastic event and gives students in the green industry an opportunity to showcase their skills,” said Irrigation Foundation Manager Noreen Rich, who attended the event. “The Foundation is a longtime supporter of SCD and is excited to bring the irrigation competition winners to the Irrigation Show as part of our E3 program.”
The E3 program focuses on exposure, experience and education as a way to attract emerging leaders such as the irrigation competition winners. The winners will network with industry leaders, spend one-on-one time with select sponsors, attend education classes and be recognized during the show’s general session.
