Conference brings leaders to San Diego

LandCare's third annual Leadership Conference saw 90 attendees from branches across the country.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego hosted LandCare’s Leadership Conference for a third straight year. With more than 90 team members in attendance, LandCare’s leaders gathered for three days for thought leadership exercises and networking. The focus was on the state of the business, recognizing the many improvements across the organization and solidifying the company’s action plan for 2017 and beyond.

“Branches have a lot of autonomy which is great because they know their region and their customers – one size doesn’t fit all,” said CEO Mike Bogan. “But it’s important to keep everyone focused on the same overall goal. Building strong teams and delivering unparalleled quality and service will helps us establish the LandCare brand we are striving for.”

One of LandCare’s core values is to, “Delight our customers. Every time.” This value was reflected in the Leadership Conference’s keynote speaker, Don Jones, EVP at Cadence Travel Management. With more than 30 years of sales and marketing experience in the travel industry, Don spoke about the importance and power of customer service and the impact it can have on a business.

The event also featured a vendor showcase with many of LandCare’s partners. Leadership and the vendor partners had the opportunity to meet and learn about current and new products, services and opportunities to improve the customer experience.

Most of the conference focused on building teams and service delivery systems. “Bringing all of management together allows us to not only connect at the regional levels so that our teams are all on the same page, but also as a company,” said Karen Wilkinson, regional VP of the Northwest. LandCare’s team members used breakout sessions to clarify goals, create branch-specific plans and foster an environment of accountability.

“You get caught up in the day-to-day running of your branch and your branch’s goals,” said JonMarc McDougan, Branch Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina. “It’s easy to only see your world and forget that we have a deep bench.”
