Florida 'Lawntrepreneur' awarded scholarship

LawnStarter has presented its first-ever $1,000 scholarship to 18-year-old Spencer Marble.

Spencer Marble, an 18-year-old senior at Creekside High School in St. Johns, Florida, owns Florida Lawn and Order whose services include lawn care, tree trimming and mulching. Marble and his two full-time employees take care of a little over 50 customers each week in and around St. Johns, a suburb of Jacksonville, Florida.

“I just purchased a second trailer and got it ready for a second crew,” says Marble, whose company is a provider in LawnStarter’s lawn care network. “We are growing at a rate where I think we might need a second crew.”

To aid Marble’s growth as an entrepreneur, LawnStarter awarded him our first-ever LawnStarter Lawntrepreneur Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will help pay for his online college classes this fall, along with a once-a-week, on-campus class he’s planning to take at night.

“This scholarship means a lot to me. My parents are very supportive of me and my business endeavors and know this is one of many more to come,” Marble says. “I take this as a humble steppingstone in the right direction.”

Spencer is the son of Bernie and Kathy Marble.
