HERNDON, Va. – The National Association of Landscape Professionals announced today that Missy Henriksen will join the association, beginning July 1, in the newly created position of vice president of public affairs.
Henriksen will oversee the expansion of the advocacy efforts at the association. The move reflects the association’s commitment to advocating for landscape and lawn care issues with lawmakers and with the public.
“As we developed our new strategic direction over the past year, it became evident that we needed to expand our efforts to promote our industry,” said Sabeena Hickman, CAE, CMP, NALP CEO. “We have made a commitment to our members to advocate relentlessly in support of their businesses, and adding Missy to our talent pool made great sense.”
Henriksen will join NALP from the National Pest Management Association where, since 2009, she has served as the vice president of public affairs and the executive director of the Professional Pest Management Alliance. At NPMA, she oversaw a number of successful public education campaigns promoting the pest management industry.
“I am very excited to join NALP and look forward to helping to broaden the industry’s reach to consumers,” said Henriksen. “I believe in the work done by landscape and lawn care professionals and am eager to strengthen the industry’s voice to home and business owners.”
Prior to joining NPMA, Henriksen served as the Executive Director for the American Composites Manufacturers Association.
