Happy Earth Day

Enjoy giving back to your communities and celebrating everything the green industry has to offer.

Earth Day and PLANET Day of Service is here. We know many of you will be celebrating while also giving back to your communities. Enjoy the day. Enjoy the outdoors. Enjoy educating others on everything the green industry has to offer.

Here is how some in the industry will be celebrating:

DENVER – Swingle Lawn, Tree and Landscape Care will provide time, expertise and labor for the Colorado Association of Lawn Care Professionals’ (CALCP) Third Annual Day of Service at Riverside Cemetery, Denver’s oldest operating cemetery. The effort is provided in conjunction with PLANET's Day of Service. Swingle Lawn Manager Tom Lynch, a CALCP Board Member, will help with turf projects, while additional Swingle employees perform tree removals.

“This is a special place in Denver, particularly for those who visit loved ones here,” said John Gibson, president of Swingle and past president of PLANET, “And it’s been significantly affected by Dutch Elm disease and other factors. We hope that our efforts to revitalize Riverside make life easier for visitors.”

Riverside Cemetery is designated as a National Historic District and was listed in 2008 as one of Colorado’s “Most Endangered Places.”

LOVELAND, Colo. –  Agrium Advanced Technologies is partnering with the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) and the City of Loveland by improving green spaces and bolstering environmental stewardship and sustainability in Northern Colorado. Agrium Advanced Technologies is also celebrating Earth Day in conjunction with PLANET Day of Service.

“At Agrium Advanced Technologies, it’s important for both our employees and our organization as a whole to engage in initiatives that support, sustain and protect the environment,” said Andrew Mittag, president, Agrium Advanced Technologies. “Participating in activities on Earth Day and PLANET Day of Service is just one way we can show our support while helping improve green spaces in our own backyard.”

Agrium Advanced Technologies will provide employee volunteers to help HPEC plant 225 one-gallon container plants in the Plant Select Demonstration Garden at HPEC, then run drip irrigation and mulch the plants with pea stone.

Agrium Advanced Technologies also donated a supply of 750 pounds of Spread it & Forget it DRIVEN BY DURATION CR product to the City of Loveland for its PLANET Day of Service project at Sculpture Park.

PHONEIX – Ewing Irrigation Products will complete four landscape renovations benefitting community service organizations located in Arizona, California, Washington and Texas.

“With each project we looked for opportunities to incorporate water efficient products and educational opportunities for the community,” said Warren Gorowitz, vice president of sustainability and conservation for Ewing. The projects contain water saving and sustainable products, such as high efficiency sprinkler nozzles, smart controllers, drip irrigation, LED landscape lighting and rainwater harvesting.

Joined by local landscape contractors and manufacturers offering additional support with materials, equipment and labor, Ewing’s Day of Service projects include:
