Hunter Industries has identified four inaugural award recipients for the Ann Hunter-Welborn Circle of Excellence Award.
From a field of 14 nominations, the Hunter sales team selected the following four winners: landscape architecture firm Studio-MLA of Los Angeles, Calif.; landscape architect Carl Kominsky of Tucson, Ariz.; environmentally conscious Butte College of Oroville, Calif.; and green wall and green roof consulting firm Fytogreen of Somerville, Australia.
“We’d like to sincerely thank the award winners — and everyone who was nominated — for their efforts to drive sustainability through innovative initiatives, projects, and services in the landscape architecture sphere,” said Bryce Carnehl, corporate sustainability manager at Hunter Industries.
Studio-MLA was selected for demonstrating how landscape architecture can be used as a tool to connect individuals and urban spaces through a holistic design approach that effortlessly incorporates the natural environment.
Carl Kominsky was recognized for his dedication to water conservation, as well as his willingness to share his vast knowledge with emerging professionals to ensure best water conservation practices, which helps build a resilient industry.
Butte College was chosen for its dedication to providing a world-class, environmentally focused education, and for its investments and achievements in renewable energy production and water management.
Fytogreen was selected for its dedication to incorporating green spaces into built environments, which provide heat island cooling effects, oxygen production, carbon sequestration, and habitat for local flora and fauna.
“Our hope is that by continuing to partner with individuals and organizations who are driving sustainability, we will inspire similar endeavors by our customers, vendors, and competitors in the diverse industries we serve,” Carnehl said.
