Davey Tree announces two promotions

Both Gary Schermerhorn and Ed Kollar were named district managers for the company.

KENT, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company has announced the appointment of Gary Schermerhorn to district manager of its King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, residential/commercial office and the promotion of Ed Kollar to district manager of the Albany, New York, residential/commercial office.

For more than 25 years, Schermerhorn has worked at Davey Tree. He began as a sales and service technician in 1991 before becoming a foreman and then sales and service coordinator. In 2002, Schermerhorn was promoted to district manager of Davey’s Albany, New York, residential/commercial office.

“With over 10 years’ experience as a district manager, Gary was a natural fit for this role. The trees and landscapes of greater Albany and King of Prussia are very similar. Gary’s vast experience in Mid-Atlantic tree care, his industry and regional knowledge will be of great service to his new clients in the King of Prussia area,” said Phil Snyder, regional vice president of Davey Tree’s residential/commercial services.

“Plus, as Davey’s new King of Prussia district manager, Gary will continue to deliver an excellent client experience, which will in turn help grow the office and the company.”

Schermerhorn is a Tree Care Industry Association Certified Treecare Safety Professional. He is also an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and completed ISA’s Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.

In 2003, Kollar joined the Davey team, already bringing several years of industry experience with him. Since then, Kollar has worked as a plant health care technician, sales and service technician and assistant district manager.

“During his 10-plus years in New York and at Davey, Ed has learned how to best care for Albany’s trees and landscapes. Many Albany residents have already worked with Ed – and have come to trust his expertise,” said Phil Snyder, regional vice president of Davey Tree’s residential/commercial services.

“In his new role, Ed will ensure Albany clients continue to have highly-trained and knowledgeable local experts keeping their trees healthy and safe,” Snyder added.

Additionally, Kollar is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and a certified pesticide applicator in New York. This year, he became a Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Certified Treecare Safety Professional.

Kollar is also a member of ISA, the Northeastern Subcontractors Association (NESCA) and the Colonie Chamber of Commerce. He also earned an associate degree in natural resource conservation from Morrisville State College in 1994.
