WOBURN, Mass. – Arborjet has announced its distribution of Shortstop systemic plant growth regulator for trees.
Shortstop slows aboveground tree growth by 80 to 95 percent by inhibiting the production of Gibberellic Acid, resulting in less frequent pruning and maintenance. Rather than trees expending energy on top growth, Shortstop fosters increased root production, improving drought tolerance and reducing environmental stresses like the impact of construction damage.

Shortstop affects the physiology of tree leaves, allowing for thicker leaf cuticles, smaller stomata size and increased leaf hairs, which also helps reduce water vapor loss in drought conditions. In addition, the formula boosts the production of chlorophyll, critical to plants’ absorption of energy from sunlight. Increased chlorophyll production results in greater energy optimization and a more attractive deep green foliage.
Shortstop is most effective when applied to the soil near the base of the tree either by soil injection or with basal soil drench. The formula is effective for treating a variety of trees such as Sweetgum, Bradford Pear, Maple, Elm, Oak, Birch and Dogwood, among numerous others.
