The 9th Annual Northeast Ohio Lawn Care Seminar is slated for June 16.
The hands-on lawn care education and training is presented by the Ohio Lawn Care Association and The Ohio State University extension services. The seminar will take place at the Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center (OARDC), 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster.
The following topics will be covered:
9:00 a.m. – General Session
An Update on the Use of Phosphorous on Ohio Lawns, Dr. Charles Darrah, CLC LABS
10:00 a.m. – noon and 1:15 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Sessions will cover the following topics:
• Station #1 - Insect ID & Management Strategies, Dr. David Shetlar, OSU(Category 8, .5 hrs)
• Station #2 - Equipment Calibration for Ride-on Spreaders/Sprayer, Andy Walters, L.T. Rich Products (CORE, 5 hrs)
• Station #3 - Equipment Showcase Vendors
12:35 p.m. – 1:10 pm
• Label, Safety and Pesticide Laws Updates for the Turf & Ornamental Applicator, Tim Hoffman, ODA (CORE, .5 hrs)
• Station #4 - Tree & Shrub Pest ID & Management, Erik Draper, OSU (Category 6A, .5 hrs)
• Station #5 - Diagnosing Turfgrass Problems & Disease ID and Management, Joe Rimelspach, OSU (Category 8, .5 hrs)
2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Ohio Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License Testing
Those planning to take the pesticide applicators licensing test, need to schedule with the ODA by calling 800-282-1955 or on-line at www.ohioagriculture.gov. Select Regulatory Programs, then Schedule an Exam. You must bring a photo ID with you to the testing.
