Company makes first U.S. acquisition

 

Universal Engeisha Group acquired the local company, which operates out of 20,000 square feet of warehouse and office space and runs a 3-acre greenhouse facility, for undisclosed terms.

 

Rolling Greens will retain its name, as well as its staff members and management team. It will also continue to provide services to its existing clients as the Universal Engeisha Group expands in this region and in the United States.

 

Paul Levy and Teddi Marshall started Rolling Greens in 1975 as a street vendor and van delivery service with $150 worth of plant inventory. Today, the company said it tops $5 million in revenue, employs 75 people and services more than 900 clients, including Fortune 500 companies, shopping centers, developers, embassies and and law firms, in designing, installing and maintaining interior and exterior environments. The company has several divisions, including for holiday decorating and replica plants.

 

Levy said the acquirer, one of the largest horticultural concerns in Japan with 3.8 billion yen (or the equivalent of $31 million) in revenue last year, was a good fit. A majority of its revenue stems from plant rentals.
